How to update your Edge or Chrome web browser

Browsers are one of the top attack vectors used by malicious actors. They exploit bugs in the browsers to display fake "you've been infected call 800..." or to inject remote access software into your computer.  New vulnerabilities are discovered and fixed every day.  When your web browser requires an update, it is in everyone's best interests to apply it.  This has gotten much better over the years.  When you apply a browser update it will almost always reload any open web sites you have.  Which is good if you keep a lot on hand.

Microsoft Edge is the company recommended browser.  While we do not install Google by default, it is available upon request.

Both Chrome and Edge are based on the same underlying browser engine (Chromium) and work very similarly.

How to update Microsoft Edge

You will see a green arrow pointing up in the top right corner menu ellipses when an update is available for Microsoft Edge.  Clicking the menu will show an update available entry.  Just click on that and the browser will restart.

How to update Google Chrome

Google Chrome will let you know an update is available by displaying "New Chrome Available" in the top right on the menu ellipses.  Click the menu and select "Relaunch to update".
